What Is Xtream Codes and How Does It Work?

IPTV Polska HD Team20 September 20265 min read

Xtream Codes is one of the two most common ways to access IPTV content, alongside an M3U link. We explain exactly what it is and how it works in practice — if you're looking for step-by-step instructions, see our guide How to Use Xtream Codes in Player Apps.

What Xtream Codes Is

Xtream Codes is the name of a management panel and associated API (Application Programming Interface) that many IPTV providers use to deliver channels and VOD content to client apps. Instead of a single link, login happens using three pieces of information: a server address, a username, and a password.

Xtream Codes vs M3U — What's the Difference

Both methods lead to the same result — access to channels — but differ in how you log in. An M3U link is a single URL pasted directly into the app, while Xtream Codes requires entering three separate pieces of information. In practice, Xtream Codes can be slightly more convenient when managing multiple devices, since the same login details can easily be re-entered on another device.

Which Apps Support Xtream Codes

Most popular IPTV apps — including IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate, and IBO Player Pro — support Xtream Codes logins. See our full comparison in Best IPTV Player Apps.
